Cambodian Children on Motorcycles

25 May 2011

Small motorcycles are the main means of transportation in Cambodia.  They are cheap, easily repairable, and can go anywhere--very important in a country where most of the roads are not paved and where sometimes there are no roads but only dikes between rice paddies.  Children must ride the motorcycles, too, of course, but the conditions in which they ride would horrify the populace of North America where there are strict rules on seat belts, car seats, air bags and children, etc.  Here are some photos of children on motorcycles in Phnom Penh.
